Q: What alarm control panels does the BAT-Connect work with?

A: The BAT-Connect is universal, as it proves a ‘dialer capture’ for panels that transmit Contact ID format from the dialer output.

Q: What panels are supported for the Virtual Keypad feature?

A:  Most DSC, Honeywell and GE panels are supported.  The BAT-Connect is connected by using a 4-conductor wire to the keypad bus.  See the Compatibility Chart for full details.

Q: How fast does the Virtual Keypad react to commands?

A: Alula utilizes the Internet as a primary source of communication, and Cellular as a back-up. Being connected to the Internet, via a Virtual Keypad connection through the Alula Security App, the alarm and home automation commands are very fast, usually responding in just one second.

Q: Do I need to order the external antenna?

A: Most installations do not require an external antenna.  However, if the installation is in a building that is blocking cellular signal or in a remote location where cellular signal is weak, the remote antenna may be necessary.  It is a good idea to have at least one remote antenna in inventory in case you need it.

Q: How does the ‘auto-programming’ work?

A:  For compatible alarm control panels, the BAT-Connect will auto-program the alarm control using the keypad bus connection, programming the necessary fields for the alarm transmissions and virtual keypad.

Q:  How are alarm signals transmitted from the alarm site?

A:  The BAT-Connect is dual-path.  The Internet is primary and auto-switchable to Cellular in the event the signal fails. Signals are processed by Alula and then re-transmitted to the central station. Many central stations have a direct Internet communication to Alula, while others that do not will utilize dial-up communications to the central station’s alarm receiver.

Q:  I am new to Alula and want to get started, what is the first step?

A:  Click on the ‘Become a Dealer’ tab at the top of the page.  You will be directed to Alula’s portal.  There is no charge to become a dealer.

Q: What are the charges for Internet and Cellular service through Alula?

A:  Once you become a dealer, registration of the device can be easily made through Alula’s portal, even through Alula’s app using a smartphone.  Charges are for (1) Alarm Relay, (2) Cameras and (3) Home Automation.  The amounts depend on the volume of business a company does with Alula, where the wholesale charges are very competitive with similar services in the marketplace.

Q:  The BAT-Connect has WiFi capability, how does this work?

A:  The BAT-Connect actually has two seperate WiFi features. First is the WiFi to connect from the BAT-Connect to the customer’s WiFi gateway, and second is the WiFi that supports the Touchpads. The BAT-Connect has both a Ethernet hardwire connection and a WiFi connection in case Ethernet wiring is difficult or impossible to run.

Q:  What is the warranty on the BAT-Connect?

A:  Alula’s Limited Warranty is to repair or replace the device for five years, which warranty is the best in the industry.

BAT-WIFI

The BAT WiFi can be connected to the customer’s Internet via hardwire to a RJ45 or can be joined through WiFi.  The WiFi connection is a very simple process of joining by holding the ‘join’ button on the BAT WiFi and within one minute using the join feature at the customer’s router/gateway

Q: Which is better, a hardwire or WiFi Internet connection?

A: Hardwire is always better because of the possibility of the WiFi disconnecting on a replacement of the customer’s router/gateway.

Q: How are alarm signals transmitted from the alarm site?
A: The BAT-WiFi is single-path. Signals are processed by Alula and then re-transmitted to the central station. Many central stations have a direct Internet communication to Alula, while others that do not will utilize dial-up communications to the central station’s alarm receiver.

Q: What is the warranty on the BAT-Connect?
A: Alula’s Limited Warranty is to repair or replace the device for five years, which warranty is the best in the industry.

BAT-LTE (Verizon)

Options:

RE036 Remove Antenna 8′ Cable (add for areas of weak signal, need two for the BAT-LTE)

The BAT-LTE is compatible with most DSC, Honeywell and GE controls.  It is also compatible with the Honeywell Vista 128BP, which the BAT Connect is not.

Q: How does the BAT-LTE connect to the Internet?

A: RJ45 Ethernet Connection

Q: Is the BAT Connect the replacement for the now discontinued BAT-LTE?

A: Yes, the BAT Connect does everything the BAT-LTE did, plus added many more features, such as 5G compatibility, auto-programming, gateway for Z-Wave devices, and the support of up to 4 Alula Touchpads.

Q:Is there any reason that I should try to stock the BAT-LTE?

A: If you need a communicator to work with the Honeywell Vista 128BP, the BAT-LTE will work.  As of this time, the BAT-Connect does not support the 128BP; however, it does support the Honeywell Vista 15p and Vista 20p.

Q: If I am in a weak cellular area, can I extend the antenna?

A: Yes, since the BAT-LTE has two antennas, you will need to remote both of them.
